Aerospace Peelable Shims
Forms a rigid structure that functions as a solid but may be reduced to a precise thickness by hand-peeling off layers (foils). Individual layered foils of material can vary in thickness from 0.025mm (0.001”) to 0.1mm (0.004”).

Can be produced in a variety of metallic materials, including; titanium, stainless, copper, bronze and aluminum, as well as much lighter weight materials, including polyester, polyimide and glass and carbon fiber composites.  Metallic foils can be coated for corrosion resistance.

Different peel strengths can be offered dependent on application requirements and customer preference.  Peelable shims can be bonded across the entire surface, or just one edge 
 
Aerospace Edgebond Shims
A peelable shim where the foils are bonded across an edge, as opposed to the entire surface of the foils.  This permits shims to be easily reused once peeled, if necessary.
 
Aerospace Hybrid Shims
Where gaps are likely to be larger than most, a hybrid shim, comprising a solid part and a laminated part will frequently provide the solution.

Hybrid shims offer strength while still providing for micro adjustment. Solid part of the shim can be used as a bearing surface. Tends to offer be lower cost than a fully laminated shim.
 
Aerospace Tapered Shims
Designed to cope with angles and curves and ensure a tight-tolerance assembly wherever relatively large spaces are encountered between mating parts.

Manufactured using a technique that does not require special tooling.  Can be produced precisely and economically in small or large batches

Where particular flexibility is required, for example to suit complex geometries or curvatures, tapered shims can be manufactured from high-performance engineered plastic material
